WILLIE NELSON BUSTED WITH POUND AND A HALF OF GOOD WEED

NEW ORLEANS - Willie Nelson and several fellow musicians were charged with misdemeanor drug possession in Louisiana early yesterday after a police search of their tour bus turned up marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms.
State Police spokesman Willie Williams said that when the bus was stopped about seven miles east of Lafayette, La., for a routine inspection, a trooper smelled marijuana inside it. Seized were 11/2 pounds of pot and two-tenths of a pound of mushrooms, he said.
Nelson, 73, and four other passengers were cited for possession and released on their own recognizance. But the driver's commercial license was suspended.
Cops said Nelson faces up to six months in prison if convicted. A spokesman for the singer said she had no information about the arrest.
"There was no trouble whatsoever," Williams said. "They were all cooperative."
Nelson is known to be a longtime advocate for the legalization of marijuana.
