INSIDE NY-- THE REAL KEVIN P. MCCARTHEY

So, MARTIN SCORSESE's THE DEPARTED has emerged as an Oscar-front runner ... Want to know one of the reasons why it looks so real? Scorsese had a ringer -- former NYPD Detective KEVIN P. McCARTHY, who's now the Drum Major of the NYPD Emerald Society Pipes and Drum Band, advising him on certain scenes, and, on some of the music.
"During the funeral scene, where bagpipe music was being played, he asked me for my thoughts on it. Most directors, when they meet me, see I'm the genuine article, so, when I'm up on the screen, it's the same energy."
Kevin played the lead detective in Colin's crew (Matt Damon). The film also stars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jack Nicholson.
