JANET JACKSONS BOYFRIEND RESIGNS

The poor U.S. showing of Janet Jackson's "Y.O.," has prompted her boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri, to quit as Virgin records' president of urban music.
Dupri, 34, resigned from the post he assumed last January and was not asked by Virgin to leave, AllHipHop.com reported Wednesday.
Jackson's newest album helmed by Dupri has sold less than 500,000 copies since its release last month. "Since there are so many rumors running rampant about my position at Virgin Records, I feel that it is necessary to set the record straight," Dupri said in a statement. "I was not forced out of the company -- I made a decision that it was in my best interest to leave."
AllHipHop.com quoted sources saying Virgin's parent company, EMI, may offer the producer a label deal with an in-house staff under its umbrella.
