Basketball's Michael Jordan and his wife, Juanita, filed for divorce in the Lake County courthouse on Friday in an amicable decision described as mutual after 17 years of marriage. The couple separated in February, and is seeking joint custody of their three children, according to a judgment for dissolution of their marriage filed in court, Reports the Chicago Tribune.The document states the couple agreed to a marital settlement that addresses property and debt division, and all parental issues for their three teenage children.The Tribune reports that "the Jordans asked the court to excuse them from attending a required parenting education program class, citing their status as public figures, which 'would be a disruption to the class, as well as create publicity concerning the parties' personal and private issues,' according to a court document." Michael Jordan, 43, became part owner of the Charlotte Bobcats earlier this year. He retired twice from the Chicago Bulls. Jordan served with the Washington Wizards, first as team president, then as a player, before he left the team in 2003. He now resides in Chicago, according to the court record.
