JOHNNY DEPP TO PLAY RUSSIAN SPY

Johnny Depp is set to play the poisoned former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko in a new film. It was revealed on Sunday that the actor has bought the rights to a book, 'Sasha's Story: The Life And Death Of A Russian Spy', about the ex-KGB agent who died after being poisoned with radioactive polonium 210 last November. Depp's production company, Infinitum Nihil, is to start work on the project this week and it is widely believed that the 43-year-old star will play the lead role, although this is yet to be confirmed. On his death bed Litvinenko, 43, accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of ordering his assassination. Litvinenko had been helping the murdered journalist Anna Politkovskaya with her investigation into corruption in the Russian government before she was shot in Moscow. Litvinenko insisted he fell ill just days after he was given documents relating to the murder of Ms Politkovskaya.
