Ringo Starr will present Oasis with their Outstanding Contribution to Music BRIT award in place of Johnny Depp. The Beatles legend was approached by organisers after Johnny - who played guitar on the Oasis track 'Fade In/Out' on the band's 1997 album 'Be HereNow' - realised the event clashed with his filming schedule. Liam and Noel had threatened to snub this year's ceremony unless someone"amazing" presented them with their prestigious accolade. As self-confessed Beatles fanatics, they are thrilled that drummer Ringo will be handing them their statuette. A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Noel is really excited. It is the ultimate accolade for the lads to be honoured by their heroes."It is something they have dreamed of ever since they were starting out at their Manchester bedrooms."Ringo already has a connection with Liam and Noel. His son Zak Starkey is currently the drummer for Oasis, who will close the show with a selection of their classic hits. The Beatles were the first band to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Music award in 1977 at the first ever ceremony. This year's BRIT Awards take place on February 14 at London's Earl's Court.
