Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie has revealed she was searching for a father to her children before she met Brad Pitt. Jolie, 31, previously maintained she was happy to be a single mother when she met Pitt – then married to Jennifer Aniston – on the set of their movie Mr and Mrs Smith. But she tells Elle magazine in a new interview: “What I wanted was to find somebody who, first and foremost, was a great father, because I was already a parent.“Yes, I needed somebody who cared about the issues. But it’s not just that Brad will travel and he loves kids. He’s a thoughtful, intelligent man.“When it comes to talking about something going on in the world and what we can do, his natural instinct is: ‘How and when can we do that?’“It’s the same with raising kids. He just naturally knows he’s lucky to be a dad to these really funny, lovely little people, so the way he parents them comes naturally. It’s just right.”Jolie revealed that she and Pitt, 43, parents to adopted children Maddox, five, and Zahara, two, and biological daughter Shiloh, seven months, want to have a huge family of 10 children.The Oscar winner said: “We definitely want a very big family. It might seem crazy to build it so quickly. But if we’re going to have 10 kids, we’d like to raise them while we’re young.“Madd and I talk about him being adopted, and he’s got opinions about his brothers and sisters to come. Maddox has already named the next addition to the family.“Last night I said to Brad: ‘If this becomes a reality, are we really thinking of that name?’ He said, ‘Yes, I think we have to’.”The Tomb Raider star gushed that it had been “amazing” to find her perfect partner.She said: “Oh, amazing! Amazing! I still find that. It’s amazing that there’s that thing you should hold out for, that you’re not wrong in feeling something’s not enough.”She added: “We came together because we’re similar. We didn’t become similar after. He never talked about politics or the charity things he’s done, but early on I realised he was aware of these issues.

“He’s a really amazing father – he didn’t just become that around me. Some men have kids when they’re not ready, and some men know they want to take it seriously and wait until they’re absolutely ready.“You could say he changed me. I wasn’t planning on getting pregnant. I’m the one that got knocked up. So if you look at it that way, it was me who had the reversal.”Jolie said of her relationship with her three children: “I think I feel so much more for Madd and Zee because they’re survivors, they came through so much. In some way they’re strangers because they had this life before me.“Shiloh seemed so privileged from the moment she was born, I have less inclination to feel for her.“I have to do the opposite from what I expected. I met my other kids when they were six months, they came with a personality. A newborn really is this … blob.“But now she’s starting to have a personality. The three of them are very funny together, very loud and in each other’s faces. She’s grown up with Zee screaming in her face in the morning.“But yes, I’m conscious that I have to make sure I don’t ignore her needs, just because I think the others are more vulnerable.She said: “They’ll go against us one day. We were trying to figure out how, because we shoot guns in movies, we have motorbikes and planes, and mummy’s covered in tattoos. All that’s left for them to do is to become Mormons.”The actress, previously married to Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller, also appeared to say in the interview that she did not approve of Madonna’s adoption of a Malawian child.She said: “I’m sure their hearts are in the right place. Angelina Jolie has made a formal court request to change adopted son Pax Thien's surname to Jolie-Pitt. Angelina filed the request for her son, who is currently called Pax Thien Jolie, to take lover Brad Pitt's surname at a Santa Monica Superior Court on April 16. Angelina adopted three-year-old Pax - whose name means 'Peaceful Sky' - in March from a Vietnamese Orphanage she had visited with Brad several times before. Vietnamese law makes it hard for unmarried couples to adopt, so the actress applied as a single parent. In January 2006, Angelina made a similar request to add Brad's name to her five-year-old Cambodian son Maddox and two-year-old Ethiopian daughter Zahara. Brad is now joint guardian to Maddox and Zahara and the couple also have an 11-month-old daughter Shiloh together.
