Halle Berry is to shave her hair off.The Oscar-winning actress has to lose her locks for new movie 'Nappy Ever After' and admits she is "scared to death" about the prospect of being bald. She said: "In the course of the story something bad happens to my character's hair and she shaves it all off. I'm scared to death but that's what I must do. Though I suppose going bald could be a little exciting too. So we'll probably film the process from beginning to end."Britney Spears recently shocked the showbiz world by shaving off all her hair off during a visit to a Los Angeles hair salon. She has since been seen wearing a number of different wigs in the wake of her drastic decision. Halle isn't the first actress to shear her locks for her art. Natalie Portman shaved off her hair for her role in 'V For Vendetta', while Demi Moore sported a cropped style for 1997 action film 'G.I Jane'.

Halle Berry contemplated suicide after her first marriage imploded.The 40-year-old actress, who was devastated when her marriage to baseball player David Justice collapsed in 1996, only changed her mind after thinking of the effect it would have on her mother. She told Parade magazine: "I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming, when I had an image of my mother finding me. She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do."It was all about a relationship. My sense of worth was so low. I had tore-program myself to see the good in me. Because someone didn't love me didn't mean I was unlovable. I promised myself I would never be a coward again."Halle received therapy after the incident and went on to marry musician Eric Benet in 2001. The couple divorced in 2005. The Oscar-winning actress, who is now dating model Gabriel Aubry, has revealed she is desperate to start a family. Halle said: "Now my sights are set on a different chapter in my life, which is motherhood. That's the goal I have very clearly set for myself."

She told InStyle magazine : "I want my kids to realize it's only through hard work that any success or real joy comes. It's not about money, it's the intangible rewards, it's about having integrity and doing what you say you're going to do."Halle has made no secret of her desire to have a baby in the past, and had vowed to get pregnant before she turned 40 last August. She told US chat show host Oprah Winfrey : "If there's no serious man in my life when I get to that age, whoever I'm dating at the time, I'll say, 'Hey, would you like to have a baby?' ''Halle has also admitted she would be prepared to adopt if she can't conceive naturally, and even contemplated artificial insemination before she started dating Gabriel. She said last year: "It looks like the only option I have left is to head for the sperm bank! I've been so desperately unlucky in love and that has thwarted my desire for motherhood. It's so frustrating. The only other option would be adoption. I really yearn for a child and I can't wait much longer."

However, the 40-year-old actress eventually fell for Gabriel, 31, because she liked his shy personality and enjoyed the fact she had to chase him. Halle revealed: "After my relationship with actor Michael Ealy ended I was feeling like, well, it wasn't that I didn't want to be in a relationship, it's just that I thought it would be OK to be on my own."But he was disarmingly sweet and caring and different. In the past, I've been attracted to big personalities. Gabriel was shy. He hardly talked to me at first."I had to work at this a little. It wasn't a slam dunk, it wasn't the guy just showering affection on me. It made it more interesting. We were equally matched - put it that way."

Halle Berry lived in a homeless shelter when she first left home.The Oscar-winning actress has revealed her mother refused to support her when she ran out of money aged 21 - leaving her homeless. Halle, 40, told Reader's Digest magazine: "But a girl had to do what a girl had to do. You can do that when you're 21 and ambitious and your eyes are this big and you don't want to go home. I became a person who knows that I will always make my own way."When I moved to Chicago, she drove me there, but I don't think she ever thought it would pan out. After a month or two, I ran out of money and called her."I said, 'Mom, I hate to ask you this, but could you send me some money? I just have rent money, I can't eat this week.'"And she said no. She said, 'I'm not going to start this calling home asking mom for money. No, figure it out or come home.' I was so mad. I didn't speak to her for a year-and-a-half."The 'Perfect Stranger' star has forgiven her mother and believes the experience made her stronger. She said: "I'm actually grateful she did that, because it taught me how to take care of myself and that I could live through any situation, even if it meant going to a shelter for a small stint, or living within my means, which were meager."Meanwhile, friends of Halle claim her boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, is about to propose. A source told the New York Post newspaper: "They've moved in together in Los Angeles, and although they have separate residences in New York, they always stay in the same place and are together constantly."I wouldn't be shocked if Aubry proposed soon."
