George Lucus And Harrison Ford Discuss Indiana Jones

Australian actress, Cate Blanchett (right), is currently in talks for a part in the fourth installment of the “Indiana Jones” saga. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 36-year-old Oscar winning actress has signed on to star along side Harrison Ford, who will play the part of the fearless archaeologist, in the last “Indiana Jones” episode. Although her part hasn’t yet been confirmed, it is suggested that she will be playing a leading role. Speculation about a fourth “Indiana Jones” movie has ebbed and flowed for years and in January this year, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg finally agreed on a script and announced they’re ready to start rolling. The movie, which will be produced by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg, with a scrcreenplay by David Koepp, is scheduled to start filming in Los Angeles and other undisclosed locations around the world, in June. Details about the title or the story line haven’t been disclosed but earlier this year Lucas told Empireonline.com, "I discovered a McGuffin. I told the guys about it and they were a little dubious about it, but it's the best one we've ever found. “Unfortunately, it was a little too 'connected' for the others. “They were afraid of what the critics would think. They said, 'Can't we do it with a different McGuffin? Can't we do this?' and I said 'No.' So we pottered around with that for a couple of years. And then Harrison really wanted to do it and Steve said, 'Okay.' I said, 'We'll have to go back to that original McGuffin and take out the offending parts of it and we'll still use that area of the supernatural to deal with it.' " Rumors are Sean Connery will play Indiana's father and Natalie Portman is also said to be in negotiations to join the cast. The globe-trotting archaeologist will return on the big screen by May 2008 after a nineteen-year pause. The “Indiana Jones” films have grossed more than $US 1.18 billion worldwide since the first movie in the trilogy, Raiders of the Lost Ark, opened in 1981. Cate Blanchett, who is filming David Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," and who will next lend her voice to Wes Anderson's "The Fantastic Mr. Fox," was most recently seen on Irish screens in “Babel” and “Notes on a Scandal,” for which she received an Oscar nomination.

HARRISON FORD TURNED DOWN 'STAR WARS' TO MAKE 'INDIANA JONES' AGAIN

Harrison Ford turned down a millions pay day to make a new spin-off 'Star Wars' movie. Hollywood legend Ford, 64, snubbed director George Lucas' big bucks offer in favor of playing heroic archaeologist Indiana Jones again. However, Lucas wasn't too disappointed with Ford's decision as he was already developing an idea for a fourth Indiana Jones movie with Steven Spielberg. A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "George wanted Harrison to play Indy but cleverly sounded him out about playing Hans Solo instead."Harrison was horrified. After that he was delighted to be playing Indy again. He told George he just couldn't face being stuck in a spaceship with Chewbacca again."Ford will still receive millions for donning his famous fedora hat once again and embarking on a final adventure as the whip-cracking character. Ford and Lucas announced that they were making a fourth 'Indiana Jones' film earlier this month.The movie, which Lucas will produce and Spielberg will direct, is due to be released in 2008, 19 years after Ford last appeared as thrill-seeking Indyin 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.
