She then asked for a 15-minute film to be made of the little girl, who has no relatives and has been living at the orphanage since she was three months old. However, though she had a successful meeting with Grace, Madonna has not made a final decision on the adoption. She has allegedly met with 10 other children, on the request of the Malawian authorities. A source said: "Grace may not be the child Madonna adopts though she certainly is a favourite. Madonna is considering other children."Madonna's representatives have repeatedly denied the star is in Malawi to adopt again, insisting she is only in the country to do charity work. Publicist Liz Rosenberg said: "Madonna is indeed going to Africa to continue her work with the Raising Malawi organisation. She is overseeing the building of a children's health care center."She is absolutely not adopting another baby. The pop star was visiting the orphanage with one-year-old David Banda, the Malawian boy she hopes to adopt. Madonna was expected to meet the boy's biological father during her visit to Malawi, but it is not clear whether that has occurred. Madonna caused controversy when she took the boy home to London after a trip to Malawi last year. Local groups have accused the superstar of using her celebrity status to bypass laws about foreigners adopting children from Malawi. Madonna was eventually granted interim custody of the boy, subject to monitoring by human rights groups.

Malawian lawyer Justin Dzodzi, who is campaigning for a legal challenge against the adoption, told Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper: "The sponsorship of Mr Manjolo could be construed as payment for the adoption.The entire circumstances surrounding the case need to be re-examined and this latest disclosure is something we would wish to bring before the courts."

"Madonna indicated a willingness to sponsor more officers.We just need to inform her of our need."Manjolo, 40, started a social work degree at Swansea University, in Wales,last September, a month before Madonna and David left Malawi. Manjolo insists he was not involved in Madonna's adoption case and has never met the singer, adding: "It is unfortunate if people use their wealth to manipulate events, but I don't think it happened in this case. Her application was considered on merit. I have been trying to do this course since 1984 but funding was a problem. It was only last August that I was told the money had finally been sourced. This course will help my department to develop a policy to encourage Malawians to adopt Malawians."Madonna has so far failed to comment on the matter.
