Maggie Gyllenhaal is set to replace Katie Holmes in the new Batman movie.The 'Mona Lisa Smile' actress is involved in talks to star opposite Christian Bale in 'The Dark Night'. Maggie, 30, will take the role previously played by 'Dawson's Creek' actress Katie Holmes. Katie - who starred as Rachel Dawes in 'Batman Begins' - announced her plans to drop out of the project last January. Heath Ledger will star as supervillain The Joker, while Aaron Eckhart will play crime boss Two-Face. Meanwhile, Maggie has bought fiancé Peter Sarsgaard a diaper bag for his 36th birthday.The actress was spotted buying the Flison Rucksack bag from Earnest Sewnwhile doing some last-minute shopping in New York's Meatpacking District on the afternoon of his birthday. Maggie, 30, reportedly hoped her actor boyfriend would use the rucksack as a diaper bag for the couple's five-month-old daughter Ramona. A source said: "She said there was a party for Peter later in the evening. She was also interested in a shirt her brother Jake purchased a week before, but the store was sold out in Peter's size."Maggie and Peter met on the set of 2003 movie 'In God's Hands' - alow-budget feature film that was never released.

MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL HAS BABYSITTER

Maggie Gyllenhaal has roped in her mother for a spot of babysitting so she an go to the Golden Globes tonight. Secretary' actress Maggie will be hitting the red carpet thanks to her mother, Hollywood screenwriter Naomi Foner, who will be looking after her baby daughter, Ramona. She told People magazine: "I know there are people who are cynical about these awards things but I'm actually thrilled to go. I'm excited to pick a dress, I'm excited to get dressed up, get my hair done and go."My mom's gonna watch my daughter and I'm gonna go and I'm gonna do it right. Maggie - who appeared alongside her real-life brother Jake Gyllenhaal incult film 'Donnie Darko' - has been with actor Peter Sarsgaard since 2002.Their daughter was born last October.The couple recently starred in 'Sherrybaby' together, which is due for release later this year.Tonight's ceremony will be the second time Maggie has attended the event. She last went four years ago when she was nominated for her role in'Secretary'.The 29-year-old actress is convinced tonight's event will be more memorable for her, as she was just a "newbie" last time. She said: "I don't have a real strong memory of it because I was just kind of so thrilled. It feels like such a different situation this time. It feels like I'm doing it for the first time."
