DAMON ALBARN SLAMS OASIS BROTHERS

Damon Albarn has nothing nice to say about Oasis

Damon Albarn has slammed Oasis for appearing at the BRIT Awards. The former Blur singer - who has been feuding with brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher (left) since the Blur versus Oasis Britpop chart battle of the mid-90s - says it was "unnecessary" for Oasis to accept the Outstanding Contribution To Music award and perform at last month's ceremony. Damon told Britain's NME magazine: "The BRITs is like the shopping channel for famous people. I don't really understand why Noel and Liam did the awards, it didn't seem necessary. Their contribution is obvious."They're certainly better than Sting, so why put yourself in a position when you're putting yourself into a linage following him? I don't understand it."Noel - who said he hoped Damon would "catch AIDS and die" at the height of their feud - recently said he liked Damon's new band The Good, The Bad and The Queen. However, Damon insists he will never be friends with the Oasis guitarist. He said: "I can't make it up with Noel. Britpop would be over and heaven forbid that we'd ever admit we'd all grown up! Britpop still reigns supreme over Britain as a musical force and will do until Blur and Oasis split."

THE WINNERS OF THE BRIT AWARDS ARE !

The Arctic Monkeys At Last Nights Brit Awards

The Arctic Monkeys and The Killers were the big winners at last night's BRITs winning two awards each. The Arctic Monkeys scooped British Group and Master Card British Album, for'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', but were not present to collect their statuettes. Instead they recorded two video messages, dressed as characters from 'The Wizard of Oz' in one and as the members of 70s band The Village People in the other, thanking organisers for their prizes. The Killers won International Group and International Album, for 'Sam's Town', and also performed their hit single 'When You Were Young' on the night. As they collected the first of their two accolades singer Brandon Flowers thanked Britain for "taking us into your hearts and making us one of your own".Take That capped off their incredible comeback by winning British Single, the winner of which was voted for by the public on the evening. The foursome, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald, delivered a sensational snub to their former bandmate Robbie Williams - who checked himself into rehab this week to be treated for an addiction to prescription drugs - by not sending him a get well message in their acceptance speech. Instead, Gary thanked the group's fans, saying: "Thank you everyone. It's amazing, just completely unbelievable."In an emotional moment, Jason said: "The first time Take That happened I cut my dad out of the picture, for whatever reason, but he's here tonight. Dad,I love you."Oasis received the Outstanding Contribution To Music award - presented to them by host Russell Brand - with brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher acceptingthe prestigious accolade with foul-mouthed thank-you speeches. Liam said: "Seeing as we don't get nominated for this shit anymore I suppose this will have to do."Noel added: "We'd like to thank everyone who has bought our records. It's been a fucking pleasure."The rock 'n' roll siblings and their bandmates - guitarist Gem Archer, bass player Andy Bell and drummer Zak Starkey - then took to the stage to close the star-studded show, held at London's Earls Court. They opened with an incendiary performance of 'Cigarettes and Alcohol', before immediately launching into 'Meaning of Soul' which was followed by 'Morning Glory'. With the crowd going wild they finished with their classic number one hit 'Don't Look Back In Anger', sung by Noel, before Liam returned to the stage for a blistering rendition of 'Rock 'n' Roll Star' - taken from their debut 1994 album 'Definitely Maybe'. Other winners on the night included Amy Winehouse - who earlier had performed her hit single 'Rehab' - who was named British Female, James Morrison who walked away with British Male and Muse, who beat Robbie to British Live Act. OASIS WILL BE JUST LIKE STING

Noel Gallagher has joked Oasis will be just like "Sting" after they win the Outstanding Contribution To Music award at tonight's BRITs . The guitarist is unsure of whether he should be proud to receive the honor because it means his band is officially getting old. He told Britain's NME magazine : "We're finally up there with Sting, Eurythmics and Sir Bob Geldof, so I'm not sure that congratulations are in order. We're taking it now because otherwise they're going to ask us every year. It seemed the right time. We'd put out our 'best of' album, 'Stop The Clocks', and we're all under 40. So we just decided, 'Fuck it, let's just do it now.' "Despite Oasis' wild reputation, Noel has warned anyone expecting him and brother Liam to bring some drunken anarchy to the ceremony this year will be left disappointed. The rocker, who is famed for his hell raising behaviour, insists they want to close the show with a blistering performance and then get drunk. He said: "I hope people aren't waiting for us to smash the place up or something. We're just going to play five songs, have a party and get fucked. We haven't got anything special planned - we're not that sort of band. The organisers did say, 'Can you do a medley of your greatest hits?' But I find that slightly pretentious."Oasis have livened up many BRITs ceremonies with their outrageous antics. In 1996, a drunken Liam famously insulted the late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence on stage as he collected an award with the band, saying: "Has beens shouldn't be giving awards to gonna bes!" The group have won several BRITs during their career, including Best British Breakthrough Act in 1995 and Best British Album in 1996 for '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?'.

WILD 'OASIS' WILL NEVER SPLIT UP

Noel Gallagher says Oasis will never split up. Despite his often tempestuous relationship with brother and bandmate Liam, the guitarist insists he will never disband the group because his still wouldn't be rid of his troublesome sibling anyway. He told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "If we weren't related, Oasis would have ended after a couple of records. But I have always got to put up with Liam. There's always Christmas and kids' birthday parties. And, as bad as it sometimes is being in a band together, I think it would be worse for each of us not working with each other. I don't know why I say that, because in theory it would be bliss, but I kind of know, deep down, that it wouldn't work."Noel insists Liam, known for his wild behaviour and outspoken views, still hasn't grown up and is very much still a "very silly man". He added: "He's still a very silly man. He's got really long hair at the moment, he looks like a lunatic. He still talks out of his arse 23 hours a day. It's like a comedy sketch. You say, 'Liam, what about putting a choir on that song?' And he says, 'Yeah, brilliant. Fucking choir, man. Top.' Then someone will go, 'Choir? That's a bit poncey, isn't it?' 'Yeah, no, choirs are shit mate. Fucking rubbish.' So you can have good fun with him in the studio."Oasis will collect the prestigious Outstanding Contribution To Music award at next week's BRITs and are set to close the ceremony with a performance of their biggest hits.

NOEL GALLAGHER TELLS U2 BONO TO "SHUT THE FUCK UP" ABOUT AFRICA

Noel Gallagher has told Bono to "shut the fuck up" about Africa. The Oasis guitarist is sick of the U2 frontman campaigning to end Third World debt in the continent, and insists Bono's fans don't want to be constantly lectured by their idol. Noel told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "With U2 it's like play 'One', shut the fuck up about Africa. People don't want to hear about it all the time."The outspoken songwriter has also blasted Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke for brow-beating his fans with his political beliefs. He has urged him to ditch his serious attitude to music and write a 'proper' rock song. He said: "Thom Yorke sat at a piano singing, 'This is fucked up', for half-an-hour. We all know that, Mr Yorke. Who wants to sing the news? No matter how much you sit there twiddling, going, 'We're all doomed', at the end of the day people will always want to hear him play 'Creep'. Get over it."Noel - who along with brother Liam and the rest of the band will collect the prestigious Outstanding Contribution To Music award at next week's BRIT AWARDS -has no intention to stop writing hit songs. The rocker - whose band has scored an incredible eight UK number singles, including 'Lyla' and 'Don't Look Back In Anger' - added: "Somehow I don't ever see myself on stage playing a mouth organ to 150 people on a Wednesday. Every time I write a song, I envisage them in football stadiums with loads of people going fucking mental - that's Oasis."

RINGO STARR TO PRESENT BRIT AWARD

Ringo Starr will present Oasis with their Outstanding Contribution to Music BRIT award in place of Johnny Depp. The Beatles legend was approached by organisers after Johnny - who played guitar on the Oasis track 'Fade In/Out' on the band's 1997 album 'Be HereNow' - realised the event clashed with his filming schedule. As self-confessed Beatles fanatics, they are thrilled that drummer Ringo will be handing them their statuette. A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Noel is really excited. It is the ultimate accolade for the lads to be honoured by their heroes."It is something they have dreamed of ever since they were starting out at their Manchester bedrooms."Ringo already has a connection with Liam and Noel. SINGER ROBBIE WILLIAMS AND NOEL GALLAGHER STILL FIGHTING LIKE GIRLS

Robbie Williams

Noel Gallagher has reignited his feud with Robbie Williams by branding his music "dog shit". The Oasis star's latest rant against Robbie come after organisers of the BRIT Awards reportedly chose not to include the 'Angels' singer's latest album 'Rudebox' in their nominations list. Noel raged to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "As he tends to refer to himself in the third person, Robbie Williams is obviously a character that he's invented and the music he makes is fucking dog shit. And I think even Robbie would probably agree with that."Robbie is set to be further upset by Noel and Oasis when the band collect the prestigious Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at next month's BRITs ceremony, to be held at London's Earls Court on February 14. The rockers are also closing the event with a performance of their biggest hits.

Oasis Noel Gallagher

Noel and his brother Liam have been feuding with Robbie since 2000, after Noel labelled him "the fat dancer from Take That". Robbie famously responded by branding the 39-year-old rocker a"mean-spirited dwarf" and challenging Liam - who is engaged to Robbie's ex-girlfriend Nicole Appleton - to a prize fight at that year's BRIT Awards. The trio have been trading barbed comments ever since, with Noel most recently offering to give Robbie a gun so he can use it to commit suicide. The outspoken guitarist said: "I'd put a bullet in a gun and give it to Robbie as he's eventually going to do it himself anyway as he is a grossly unhappy person."
